01 - Challenge

The problem to solve

Offline navigation is a feature most people only value once it is too late. The site had to make visitors feel the moment the bars disappear - before they ever need the app.

Goals
  1. 01Make an offline feature feel urgent before it is needed
  2. 02Explain BackTrack™ without a feature list
  3. 03Build early-access sign-ups
02 - The idea

People only value offline navigation once the bars disappear - so the website makes them disappear.

03 - Approach

Key decisions and why

The scroll is a journey from 4G to no service. A 3D topographic terrain, a live position readout and a signal indicator degrade as you move deeper, while BackTrack™ quietly draws your route home.

Type shifts from solid to outlined as the signal weakens - the interface itself tells the story of losing connection, then shows how Trackaroo keeps you oriented.

Decision 01

A journey from 4G to no service

The signal indicator and position readout degrade as you scroll deeper.

Decision 02

3D topographic terrain

The landscape sets the stakes better than any photo.

Decision 03

Type that loses its fill

Headlines shift from solid to outlined as the signal weakens.

Decision 04

BackTrack™ draws the way home

The key feature appears exactly when the story needs it.

04 - Live experience

Don't just look. Try it.

06 - Outcome

What changed

A concept that turns a utility feature into an emotional story - and a clear example of 3D used for meaning, not decoration.
